Innocence is our innate birthright. It knows no cultural
or religious boundaries, but is a precious gift that is given to
each and everyone of us to treasure and honor. It holds the
magic of our youth and provides us wings to explore.
When taken away without permission through family
violence, incest or any form of sexual assault, it often times
leaves a heart that is an empty shell; untrusting, shamed,
fearful and stripped of self-esteem. Lives are shattered and yes,
wounds become deep.
There is hope. Recovery is possible. Hearts can be
restored. Innocence can be reclaimed. Lives can be rich and
fulfilling. I know, because I am a woman who lived the despair
of a lineage of incest, experienced family violence and sexual assault
by non-family members and I came out on the other side, happy,
healthy and whole.
In using my life-experience, voice and expertise I have been instrumental in
promoting awareness, educating, empowering and strengthening
male, female, young and old to move forward in their own
understanding, awareness and healing.
In collaboration with individuals, agencies and other communities, making
a difference in the day and life of children, individuals, family and
community has been possible.
Together, we can and do make a difference.
